Twitter: driving blog readers, death of a former colleague, discovering my followers

...yeah indeed ages since my last post, after that long pause for commercial, ahem... well I have several stuff written in their draft form and so they are stale news and updates, ugh... getting caught up with the busy-ness of the prep work for the May 18 Commemorative Events here in Gwangju...

So, what am I up to lately - hehehe, sweet-grin-twit-on-my-face, driving folks and re-discovering twitter...

I signed up for twitxr for my foto blog appearing on the side bar, I removed twitter since it can cross post with twitter. Then I found out lately that there is now twitpic to post pictures as well . I have tried it but have yet to put the widget in my other blogs.

Visitors to my blog are reported by the ever trustworthy feedjit. I am able to monitor those who come to my blog with from twitter and the country they came from.

I added several Filipinos in my account and one guy recognized me, and he acquainted himself that we belong to the same NGO network. Of course I recognized him. But I was shocked by the news that I got from one of his feeds. He twitted this:

In the 90's, Danny+ was a colleague in my early days in the NGO called Congress for a People's Agrarian Reform (CPAR) with Dinky Juliano-Soliman as our National Coordinator. Former CPAR staff would have Christmas reunion at Dinky's house. Danny and a lady staff used to be matched, so it was an annual butt of jokes. It was stopped when Danny got married and brought the wife with him in our reunions. Although the jokes are carried online in our exchanges in our yahoo groups and so busy as we are in our different works and worlds the friendship and connection is maintained. So upon learning this twit feed I immediately posted in our yahoo groups this sad news that got read quickly by my some former colleagues who are even in the Philippines. Imagine the news got feedbacked to them from Gwangju, ROK. Well, that's technology on the work. Monitoring the development of my posting, I got updated about the visit of two former officemates to the wake. Remie mentioned that she and Agnes were the only "not-so-sad-faces/mourning looks" among the "serious-sad-faces" crowd in the wake. As I read her account I could not help but laugh. The thing is, we all have fond and funny memories of Danny. I can really imagine us, Danny's colleagues if gathered together in his wake, we would be spewing jokes and jovialities about him. Which we think and agree would be the way he would want to be remembered.

A salute to a colleague and comrade who never wavered in his commitment to serve and defend the peasant, rural women, fisherfolks and agricultural workers.

May your soul rest in peace.


discovering my followers

Well at least that proves one of the benefits of following so many people. So now that I am following thousands and being followed by hundreds I would really like to keep up with them. So one way I thought of is through this:

Well, probing more about the author I came across a nice poem from this section of her blog
