Cyber-paparazzi: Blogger vs Politician

Image
I first saw the issue blogged at Entrecard and was lead to the link of TechCrunch . I went through the comment section of TechCrunch blog and found a very interesting exchange. So are bloggers becoming cyber-paparazzi, with the photo caption below? I believe in the freedom of speech and I do subscribe with responsible writing. But the case here is that the blogger as differentiated with the the mainstream media is writing about her personal opinion and experience. But it is so happen t hat she blogged about a public figure so she suffered from what she blogged and got kicked-out from her job. Well I think if mainstream media or even tabloid (as opposed to social media) was on the scene he could have landed in the papers. But it was a blogger who got the scoop. I am definitely biased for the rights of the bloggers. The internet should be kept as an open space, a space for free speech, a democratic space. Bloggers should know the consequence of their actions but they should not be perse

Sobin Park - Woman and Dragon in Love

Image
Last night (27 November), before proceeding to our English conversation session, Sobin and I had dinner at a vegetarian buffet resto, one of her fave places to keep herself healthy. She was introduced to me by my beautiful "Korean agent" Eunyoung. Then we learned that it was a year ago when she made her first exhibition in NY. Below are some of the reviews of her works. So for that historic occasion I asked her to sign for me a postcard of her art exhibit last year. The photo link as of writing still unavailable... (still waiting for twitxr to post it - or my mobile phone company is lazy enough to send it again... ughhh,,,). Sobin is hoping to go back to NY for a year of art residency. I wish her all the luck. Indeed her art works need to be noticed by the art community and seen by a global audience. Watch the lady-dragon! her lady and dragon painting conquers the world... Here is a video-animation of her works found from her website : (Click image to view) Sobin Park: Beaut

Typealyzer: INTP - The Thinkers

Image
I visited Collin Campbell blog for his comments and found this thingy so I checked it out for myself. Very interesting though. So, Typealyzer says my blog is INTP - The Thinkers : The logical and analytical type. They are especially attuned to difficult creative and intellectual challenges and always look for something more complex to dig into. They are great at finding subtle connections between things and imagine far-reaching implications. They enjoy working with complex things using a lot of concepts and imaginative models of reality. Since they are not very good at seeing and understanding the needs of other people, they might come across as arrogant, impatient and insensitive to people that need some time to understand what they are talking about. About Typealyzer.com is developed by the happy people @ prfekt.se. FAQ How does it work? For a long period of time, we have been training our system to recognize texts that characterize the different types. The system, typealyzer, can

Gerald Celente: Modern day "Nostradamus"?

Image
Another from my email box forwarded with subject: AMERICA in CRISIS: Another modern day "Nostradamus" . Hope this will not happen. Nostradamus predicted ages ago that "the great and poerful nation from the west will fall not from without (military invasion), but rather from within (financially) . Celente Predicts Revolution, Food Riots, Tax Rebellions By 2012 Trend forecaster, renowned for being accurate in the past, says that America will cease to be a developed nation within 4 years, crisis will be "worse than the great depression" The man who predicted the 1987 stock market crash and the fall of the Soviet Union is now forecasting revolution in America, food riots and tax rebellions - all within four years, while cautioning that putting food on the table will be a more pressing concern than buying Christmas gifts by 2012. Gerald Celente, the CEO of Trends Research Institute , is renowned for his accuracy in predicting future world and economic events, which

Taean Oil Spill Clean-up

Image
From wikipedia : At about 7:30 local time on December 7, 2007 (2230 UTC on 6 December 2007), a crane barge owned by Samsung Heavy Industries being towed by a tug collided with the anchored Hong Kong registered crude carrier Hebei Spirit (Chinese: ę²³åŒ—ē²¾ē„žč™Ÿ), carrying 260,000 tonnes (290,000 short tons) of crude oil. The incident occurred near the Port of Daesan on the Yellow Sea coast of Taean County. The barge was floating free after the cable linking it to the tug snapped in the rough seas. Although no casualties were reported, the collision punctured three of the five tanks aboard the Hebei Spirit and resulted in the leaking of some 10,800 tonnes (11,900 short tons) of oil.[4][5] The remaining oil from the damaged tanks was pumped into the undamaged tanks and the holes were sealed.[6][7] The spill occurred near Mallipo Beach (in Taean County), considered one of South Korea's most beautiful and popular beaches.[8] The region affected by the spill is home to one of Asia's largest

First Snow of 2008 in Gwangju

Image
Yesterday it rained, a harbinger of season's change. In some parts of Korea it was already snowing. Then at 10 PM when I opened the window to check, lo and behold white soft little cottons where falling from the sky. Finally Ria's (intern from Indonesia) wish is now fulfilled, to experience snow... Well am not sure if this will be the first and the last. Climate Change - like last year the precipitation was very little compared to that of 2005 heavy snow storm and snowing. Below are the photos I took in our district Sangmu and the 518 Park: View Album Get your own

Flower: butterfly, bee and ant

Last summer I chance upon this interaction of nature. A nurturing flower giving all its essence to the butterfly, bee and ant. And so I watched them with pleasure, amazed with their wonderful co-existence. If only more humans could be like the flower - selfless, egoless and viceless... such is the beauty of a flower worthy of adoration... View Album Get your own

Altsean-Burma has released a briefer titled “13 years is too long: Free Daw Suu now!” On 24 October, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi will mark her 13th year in detention. Yet, she remains committed to a peaceful, political solution that is needed now more than ever for the people of Burma. It is imperative that Burma’s neighbors and allies such China, India and ASEAN renew and strengthen efforts to secure the immediate and unconditional release of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and her colleagues. As the Burmese military junta’s gross mismanagement and oppression further entrenches Burma as a failed state, it is in the region’s interests that durable solutions are achieved. This briefer profiles the experiences of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and some of the 178 other women prisoners of conscience known to be incarcerated in intolerable conditions in Burma’s prisons for their political activities and leadership. The briefer is available at: http://www.altsean.org/ Reports/13years.php Related posting:

Congratulations President Obama!

Image
America have spoken: CHANGE ! Yes, we can! I hope that the new President Obama will really make change, not only domestically but globally. I hope this is the start of USA to posture not as a global bully but a nation that supports and practices genuine democracy, human rights and peace in relations to other nations of the world. All my best wishes and positive thoughts to the New President! Mabuhay! and of course the famous video that says CHANGE Complete Transcript of Barack Obama’s Acceptance Speech: “If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible; who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time; who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is your answer. It’s the answer told by lines that stretched around schools and churches in numbers this nation has never seen; by people who waited three hours and four hours, many for the very first time in their lives, because they believed that this time must

Tagalog is No. 15 most popular at Forvo.com

Image
TAGALOG I am so glad to see that Tagalog from obscurity is now No. 15 among the most popular languages at Forvo.com. English and Portugues are on the top. There are total of 191 languages registered. With 4,796 users or contributors and a total of 34 editors. Having contributed lots of words I was invited to become editor so I can contribute more words. But pronouncing the words is a bit tedious task but fun. It is fun to submit those words for others to hear them, am trying to learn as well how words I know in Spanish are being pronounced by other speakers from Spain and Latin America. Ilokano is another language that I submitted and edits it is ranked at No. 21. I hope more Ilocanos will join and contribute. I have yet to see other languages of the Philippines.
